HANforum was founded by Hyeji Herr. During the literature review for her master’s thesis, she had extensively investigated how South Korea was perceived as a brand in Germany. However, she was disappointed to discover that not only the majority of Germans but Europeans at large hardly knew anything about her home country. While she is happy to witness the increasing popularity of certain Korean culture and products in recent years, she wants to scream to the world that we have even more to offer! She decided to introduce well-made products deserving of recognition in Europe. So, with the mission of consumer satisfaction and promotion of a positive image of South Korea, she founded HANforum in 2017.

HAN has the following two meanings: 1) “Korean,” in the South Korean national language, often associated with the prefix “K-,” for example, K-pop, K-drama, K-beauty, K-food, and K-style; and 2) “One”. We named our brand HANforum hoping to emerge as the foremost forum for curated Korean designs.

The design of our logo is inspired by the Korean word “HAN” written in the old script.

N = ㄴ: A shape that looks like a bowl or smiling lips

The wide spectrum! Our design world, ranging from lifestyle items and fashion to architecture, traces back to several thousand years of tradition. Designs based on versatile cultural aspects and driven by sustainable materials and traditional creation process are often interpreted anew today. Talented designers take a new approach and create creative styles—from super-cute to modern minimalism or even maximalism.
